Difficult Positive New York, NY

My process began with fast recruiter coordination and then moved into multiple structured conversations with traders. The early rounds were several 30–45 minute calls, mostly focused on probability, estimation, mental math, and game-like problem solving. I didn’t need a finance background to get started; the problems were designed to be solvable by reasoning.

As the process continued into the final stage, it became more of a true “work through problems together” feel. I went through several back-to-back interviews with traders, and the mix included probability and statistics, data reasoning, and sometimes a short language-agnostic coding or data exercise. Throughout, interviewers stayed polite and engaged and were willing to help me get unstuck if I was stuck mid-thought.

Average Positive United States

My first interview started simply: I had a brief Zoom conversation that focused entirely on two probability games. Each problem was broken into a small set of parts—one question had multiple sub-steps and the other was shorter, but both required careful reasoning through the probabilities.

When I got stuck, the interviewer didn’t just leave me hanging; they gave me thought directions to help me find the next step. It felt structured, like the goal was to see whether I could correct course and keep explaining how I was thinking as the problem evolved.
