My technical interview journey leaned heavily into deep domain knowledge rather than generic coding. I started with a phone screen where we covered general info and then moved into a longer technical session. During that first technical block, I began by walking through my projects and work, and then I was asked two specific technical questions—both centered on control and system identification topics, like how you’d think through controller design.

The next parts of the process reinforced that same theme. I had another round where the engineering manager asked technical questions that felt like they tested memorization of school-level physics and mechanics equations more than my ability to design or reason through real engineering tradeoffs.
