HR reached out to schedule a Zoom call with herself and a director. The call was short, and the director mostly used it to see whether I was a fit for the role and whether the role matched what I was looking for. After that, they set up a plant tour and then another interview with their chief chemist.
The onsite portion was intense and ran for the full booked hour. I was flown out with expenses covered, but it turned into a hassle because the rental and hotel weren’t prepaid, so I had to cover them with my own card and then deal with reimbursement afterward. The plant tour itself went well, and I felt good coming out of the in-person chemistry interview. The director had told me he’d make a selection the following week, and I believed that, based on how the conversations had gone.
