My process had three interview rounds, and the format was pretty consistent across them. Each technical round lasted around 30 minutes to close to two hours, and after completing all of them the plan seemed to be moving forward with a larger shortlist.

What threw me off was what happened right after: they selected a group of interns, then suddenly shifted and chose a smaller subset—specifically the first group of seven. I couldn’t fully make sense of the sudden change in outcome, especially since the interviews themselves had gone through the expected motions.
