Difficult Neutral United States

I had an interview process that mixed technical questions with more personal ones, and I made it to the second round. The first interview was mostly about my background—why I was interested in the role and what I was looking for—along with salary expectations. After that, the second interview shifted more toward technical depth.

I didn’t get an offer, but the two-part structure made the progression feel deliberate: first they evaluated alignment and fit, then they followed with technical assessment. The technical portion was the one that determined whether I could clear the next hurdle, and I just didn’t get past it.

Easy Negative New York, NY

Early on I had a tech phone screen focused on fundamentals. It felt like a normal first conversation, but then after that I was ghosted and it wasn’t tied to anything I did in the interview—I basically wasn’t selected and didn’t get meaningful follow-up.

One detail that really stood out to me was something on the job application itself: there was a question about being gay as part of the form. It made me uneasy, and it also made me wonder whether that kind of information played any role in how people got evaluated.
