My process started with an online assessment that leaned into word problems and felt more tedious than genuinely hard. After that, I had a follow-up call with the recruiter, and the setup didn’t go smoothly on timing—there were issues getting the next step with the hiring manager locked in.

Once the actual interviews happened, the technical focus became clear. I went into a technical round where the questions revolved around controllers and process automation concepts. I talked through topics like different types of controllers and where they fit in building automation workflows, and we covered things tied to systems like Niagara and the kinds of logic used in control schemes. Alongside that, I had to reason through scenarios that connected these ideas to how real systems behave.

My interview was a single round with five people, including a manager, technical leads, and HR. The session took close to an hour, and each person asked questions that felt related rather than random—like they were splitting up different dimensions of evaluation across the panel.

The technical side was a bit challenging, but it still landed in the realm of general, textbook-style questions. The HR presence and the manager’s involvement made it clear they weren’t only judging my coding or theory; they were also checking how I’d handle the broader expectations of the role.
