After an initial video conversation with a manager, my process quickly turned into a few lighter follow-ups. I had three informal calls with employees in the role I was interviewing for, and then I also met with a manager for a different territory. Overall it felt straightforward and not very technical—more about alignment with how the team worked and what the job actually looked like day to day.
What stuck with me was the end of the process. After I wrapped up the final discussion, I had to follow up on next steps and then follow up again. The manager told me she’d come back to me by a specific date, and I waited—then effectively got ghosted with no feedback at all. It was honestly shocking, because the interviews themselves didn’t feel rude or combative; it was the silence and lack of closure that made the whole thing feel unprofessional.

Difficult Negative United States
My interview journey ended up feeling drawn out and slow enough that it affected my ability to stay engaged. I started with early conversations and then moved into additional stages with multiple stakeholders. I appreciated getting to meet different people and understand how they thought about the role, but the overall timeline kept stretching longer than I’d expected.
At a certain point, I also ran into a screening/assessment step that immediately changed the tone of the process. After completing a timed online-style assessment, I was told my responses didn’t match what they were looking for. Despite having gone through earlier conversations and still feeling aligned, that result ended the recruitment conversations—no real chance to continue talking with anyone further. The combo of prolonged timing and then a hard cutoff from a test made the whole process feel less thoughtful and more rigid than it initially seemed. I eventually stepped away, and what I took from it was that the effort I put in didn’t translate into a decision that felt clearly connected to the actual job.
