I got an invite from a recruiter to apply, and the path was clearly laid out up front: a cultural fit conversation with the manager I’d report to, followed by a live coding technical round, and then a system design interview. The whole process felt structured rather than chaotic, and I appreciated that the recruiter kept checking in at each step and coordinated scheduling around my availability.
After the recruiter call, I ended up having a manager-focused round that leaned into my background and behavioral questions to understand how I’d fit culturally. Then the technical portion started with a HackerRank assessment that focused on Ruby on Rails, which set the tone for how practical the role would be. The next stage was a live pair programming session—hands-on, engaging, and genuinely challenging, but not framed as a “gotcha.”

Average Negative India
I applied through the careers page for a staff engineer role, and it took about a month before the recruiter reached out to schedule a call. During that call, we discussed the opportunity and she explained what the next rounds would look like, and she said she would share the assignment. The part that stood out was that she never turned on her camera.
After the call ended, I didn’t hear back at all, even after I followed up multiple times by email. Eventually the silence did more than just delay things—it made the process feel disrespectful of my time. I still think a quick feedback note would’ve helped close the loop, especially since everything had already been set in motion.
