What is a Research Scientist at Grail?
As a Research Scientist at Grail, you will be at the forefront of one of the most ambitious challenges in modern medicine: detecting cancer early when it can be cured. Grail is dedicated to alleviating the global burden of cancer through the development of pioneering multi-cancer early detection tests, such as their flagship product, Galleri. In this role, you will contribute directly to the optimization, development, and scaling of high-throughput genomic assays that analyze cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from simple blood draws.
This position is highly collaborative, bridging the gap between molecular biology, automation engineering, and computational biology. You will work on cutting-edge next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, refining assay chemistry to maximize sensitivity and specificity. Your daily efforts will directly impact clinical pipelines, ensuring that the assays developed in the lab are robust enough to be run at a massive scale in clinical laboratory environments.
The work is fast-paced, highly rigorous, and scientifically demanding. To succeed, you must possess a deep understanding of molecular biology fundamentals, particularly around sequencing technologies, while remaining highly adaptable to changing project requirements. It is a unique opportunity to apply your scientific expertise to a product that directly saves lives.
