After a recruiter touchpoint, I ended up doing a casual conversation with the hiring manager to align on the role and my background. I remember that part being pretty friendly, and the hiring manager also asked questions that felt grounded in my experience rather than rehearsed prompts. Not long after that, I had a live coding test with two engineers I would have worked with, framed around a couple of likely future scenarios.
The coding portion felt straightforward at first, but it quickly became clear I wasn’t going to pass. I focused on getting to a working solution and explaining my reasoning, yet the feedback never really landed in my favor, and the overall tone shifted toward closure. Even though the interviews themselves felt respectful, I didn’t move forward, and afterward I experienced radio silence.

I experienced the process as thorough and fairly well managed. It started with a more typical HR step, then moved into interviews with managers, and eventually into technical interviews. After that, there was a back-to-back review of the approaches I chose for the technical portion, which made it feel like they weren’t just checking answers—they were trying to understand how I thought and decided.
There were a lot of interviews overall, and the cadence was definitely on the “long and arduous” side. Even so, I didn’t feel like the process was chaotic or disorganized. I remember the talent specialist being very engaged and letting me know about every stage, which helped keep expectations anchored even when the total time stretched.
