After the HR conversation, I ended up with three rounds total. The first one felt pretty manageable, but by the time I got to the next interview—run by someone from the same team as the eventual hiring manager—it became much more detailed and probing. I noticed the interviewer would go deeper based on how clearly I explained things, and when the explanation wasn’t crisp enough they pushed for more detail rather than letting me move on.
What stood out most was how quickly the structure turned into “keep unpacking.” The interview questions alternated between asking what I would do in hypothetical situations and asking me how I’d handled things in the past, which forced me to do mental gymnastics on the fly. I also felt like I had very limited room to ask clarifying questions, so I had to make my points the first time. Overall it was a tough experience, and I didn’t end up getting an offer.

Average Positive Toronto, ON
My process felt very structured and pretty consistent from round to round. After initial coordination, I walked into a set of interviews that were each focused on a specific area, with themes that aligned to Google’s pillars like RRK, GCA, leadership, and “googliness.” It didn’t feel random; it felt like each person had a clear agenda.
I remember the format being slightly robotic in the sense that the flow was scripted and efficient. I was expected to have strong, ready-to-go examples and to tell them in a STAR style, and the discussions leaned on my past experience and how I’d approach situations. There were also scenario questions—imagining how I’d handle something—but it wasn’t described as “gotcha” stressful. Some rounds ran as individual interviews and others felt more team-wide, and overall the pacing was direct: gather information, score alignment, and move on.
