Everything we know about interviewing at Glassdoor: the process stage by stage, what each round tests, compensation by level, and reports from candidates who interviewed.
What the process looks like, and what Glassdoor is really testing for.
Glassdoor evaluates most candidates through a recruiter screen, then a sequence of hiring-manager and team conversations, plus technical interviews. The distinctive part, based on the topics data and how candidates described the loop, is the combination of analytical testing (SQL and data analysis appear at very high prominence) with repeated communication and collaboration checks (stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills).
What the loop actually tests is whether you can turn data work into decisions and explanations. SQL and data analysis are the most prominent technical topics, followed by statistical analysis, analytical problem solving, and data-driven decision making. You also get assessed on how you work with others, present your thinking, and handle leadership and stakeholder-oriented scenarios, plus there is meaningful coverage of machine learning concepts and data visualization concepts.
The process shape varies by role, but candidate reports suggest you should expect multiple steps over a range of timelines, and you may or may not receive a take-home assignment. Difficulty skews mostly to medium, with offers reported at 0.6% across 713 reports, and candidate sentiment is 69.2% positive. Some candidates reported clear communication and feedback after the final stage, while others reported long silence or delays.
Even though the loop includes technical work, the topics with the highest prominence repeatedly include stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and communication/presentation, so you should be ready to explain your data reasoning and tradeoffs clearly, not just get the correct result.
4 stages, based on 713 candidate reports.
You start with a recruiter call to assess background and fit for the role, and in some cases align on salary expectations. Expect the recruiter to set expectations and discuss logistics.
You move into video or live conversations with the hiring manager and team members. These rounds focus on role-specific experience, cultural and collaboration fit, and scenario-based behavioral questions.
You are evaluated on analytical and technical skills, with prominent emphasis on SQL and data analysis. Depending on the role, you may also see statistical analysis, data-driven decision making, machine learning concepts, and data visualization concepts.
Some roles include a panel interview with multiple conversations, where candidates present their case study or explain their approach to a group. Other loops may include presentations that test how you communicate your reasoning to a wider audience.
