My experience had a heavy workload. I went through four separate interviews, and two of those lasted about an hour and a half each. The process included take-home exercises that were fairly involved, and I had to spend a lot of time on the work before even getting the final decision.
What really affected me was that they waited until late in the sequence—after all that effort—to decide to reject me. I also didn’t get any feedback afterward, which made the time investment feel especially harsh.

I interviewed with GitLab twice over a longer window, and the second time felt like a real opportunity to revisit a “what if.” A recruiter reached out through LinkedIn, and once I confirmed interest I moved quickly into their hiring loop, with multiple interviews scheduled within about a week. What stood out to me was how closely everything tracked their stated handbook—down to how strictly they followed time limits.
In one memorable moment, I was partway through a team member conversation and I mentioned I had more time. The interviewer appreciated that but still wrapped it up on schedule so nobody else would effectively get more time than I did. It came across as consistent, even if it meant I had to leave a good conversation sooner than I would have liked.
