Average Negative Nederland

I had two conversations during the process. The first one was more of a kennismaking-style introduction, just to get context. The second was mostly question-and-answer back-and-forth, and I felt like both rounds went well as discussions.

What surprised me was what happened after. I was rejected for a role where the actual work focus didn’t seem to come up in the conversations I had—so I walked away feeling very blindsided. It was honestly disappointing because I expected a more aligned process from a company like Fortinet.

Difficult Positive Chicago, IL

I went through three rounds. The first was a manager screen where we covered my background, what stood out on my resume, how I described my experience, and what my long-term career goals looked like. We also discussed how I would describe a team I’d work with.

The second round was rapid fire and technical in a very specific way. They tested knowledge of the OSI model layer by layer and asked about details like MAC addresses, VRRP/HSRP, RFC1918, and TCP. Beyond that, I had to be ready for networking scenarios and drill down on topics like VPN, web filtering, anti-spam, NGFWs, and WAFs.
