My Flexport process started with a phone screen with a full-stack engineer. The call itself felt like a normal technical conversation rather than a high-pressure grilling. Afterward, I received a message from the recruiter—just a “thank you” note—so the communication didn’t drag on or go silent.

Even though I didn’t end up with an offer, the whole thing felt fairly straightforward. What stood out most to me was how quickly I could move through the step and how promptly the recruiter followed up, even after the screen didn’t go my way.

My process was fairly compact: first a phone interview focused on coding, then an onsite interview that included coding, design, and project management discussions. Each round lasted about an hour, and I had to switch between Chinese and English during the conversations.

What stood out was how much emphasis there was on problem-solving across languages, not just technical correctness. The onsite felt like it was testing how I structured my thinking under different prompts—coding first, then design, and then how I talked about managing work and delivering outcomes.
