I applied expecting a software engineering interview that matched a front-end focus, but the process didn’t really reflect that. It dragged out over a few weeks, starting with a technical screen that didn’t include anything front-end-specific. The virtual onsite followed with another coding exercise plus a system design round that felt heavily backend/service scaling oriented, even though the role I was interviewing for was more frontend.
The rest of the onsite also didn’t line up with my expectations: the behavior round had an interviewer who was an FE engineer, but the overall technical stack still leaned back-end in a way that made me feel like my experience wasn’t being weighted correctly. The coding parts were essentially not-LeetCode-style exercises, and the system design topics were mostly scenario-based scaling questions that leaned the wrong direction for what I was hired for.
