Difficult Positive Japan

One interview session ended up lasting about four and a half hours. It wasn’t just coding—it was a scenario meant to evaluate a broad set of skills. I covered technical topics like TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and HTTP/HTTPS, and then I was pulled into soft-skill evaluation, escalation skills, and troubleshooting.

That breadth made it feel difficult in a very specific way: even if I knew the topics, the time and scope forced me to stay sharp and structured the whole way through. I didn’t get an offer, and the biggest reflection I have is how exhausting it was to be assessed across so many dimensions in a single long scenario.

Average Positive London, England

I went through two sessions of technical interviews, and each session had two interviewers. The first session was manager-focused but still heavily technical: it leaned into network-related questions and felt grounded in core knowledge. The setup was pretty direct—two engineers running the conversation—and I remember thinking that reviewing fundamentals like the OSI model and TCP/IP would’ve helped.

The second session was more diverse and shifted toward computing systems with a lot of Linux-based questioning. What stood out was how different it felt from the networking-heavy first part, even though it was still in the same technical track. When the manager session was included, it felt like they were already fairly far along in the selection, because it turned into more of a “fit and conversation” checkpoint than the earliest gate.
