I interviewed with the manager first, and then the next stage asked me to prepare a presentation around cloud architecture. I went in thinking the format would connect back to the role, but the questions during that manager/presentation-focused segment kept drifting away from what I expected and leaned heavily into building LLMs.

It ended up being the most frustrating interview experience I’d had because it didn’t feel aligned with my experience or the role I’d applied for. I remember feeling thrown off by the repeated emphasis on LLM-related building topics, especially when I’d prepared for a more relevant cloud-oriented discussion.

My process started with a set of rounds that felt layered: an initial technical check that covered a wide surface area, then deeper follow-ups, plus additional rounds that brought in networking-style troubleshooting and finally work-experience discussion.

The first technical stage had surface-level questions across a large portion of core topics, and it covered roughly most of what they considered important. The depth came next in a networking-focused round where I was tested on DNS and troubleshooting. The interviewer also pushed through conceptual differences like physical versus cloud services, and I had to talk through virtualization. The round went into Linux and even process and thread/kernel fundamentals, including process management.
