Average Negative Sydney

The process started on the wrong foot. I had to chase the HR contact just to get the interview details, and the original plan didn’t hold. The interview was cancelled at the last minute, and when I finally attended, it was abruptly cut short.

After that, I didn’t hear anything back. I kept expecting a follow-up, but I was essentially ghosted. Overall it felt disorganised and unprofessional, and it left me with no clear closure on where I stood.

My first contact was a recruiter-led setup, and the early conversation felt fairly informal. When the actual interview happened, it started with the usual self-introduction and a walkthrough of my background, then moved quickly into basic technical questioning. I remember being asked to explain the difference between AWS S3 and CloudFront, along with questions about multiple kinds of databases.

The tone was surprisingly friendly—almost like the interviewer wanted to help me think through things rather than just test me. There were also some simpler programming fundamentals and a straightforward problem, with the discussion circling back to how I communicated, how I approached problem-solving, and how solid my technical basics were.
