I had a rough first experience with a coding interview that felt unprofessional from the start. I met with the team manager, and it was obvious quickly that she wasn’t engaged—she looked disheveled, seemed distracted, and even when I asked for clarification on the coding task, it was clear she wasn’t paying attention. The coding platform also glitched during the session, and despite that, I wasn’t given real help or guidance.

The interview ended in an oddly dismissive way, with her suggesting I try again for a rotation program if they didn’t have open spots for the summer. The fact that the interview happened at all didn’t make sense to me given how little she seemed to be evaluating or even listening. I didn’t get an offer, and honestly, the overall vibe and the lack of support when things broke left me with one of my worst interview impressions.
