Average Negative United States

The recruiter screen came about a week after I applied. I talked through my resume and answered a couple questions, but I was surprised that the recruiter didn’t really add much about the role beyond what was already in the job description.

About a week later, I was asked to send availability for a hiring-manager round scheduled roughly two weeks out. That call gave me a lot of useful context, and I walked away feeling like I would be a strong fit. A few days afterward, I was prompted to schedule a technical screening, but that’s where things got messy fast. After I submitted availability, I was told none of the proposed times worked and I needed to fit into a slot that matched the interviewer’s schedule instead. When we connected, the technical interviewer was a lead from data engineering who didn’t seem aligned with the actual job I was interviewing for.

Easy Positive United States

My process started with a virtual recruiter interview that felt pleasant and direct. We went over my background and I got the impression they were looking for someone with some actual knowledge and experience for the role, so the job description details mattered. It wasn’t a vague chat—there was a clear sense they were checking whether my experience matched what the posting described.

After that, the interview journey stayed straightforward. I had a manager conversation, and then a technical round that felt like a typical big-tech style of assessment. The technical questions were practical and didn’t feel like they were trying to “wring” answers out of me. Even when questions touched on soft-skill alignment, the tone stayed calm and cooperative.
