I was scheduled for a systems-engineering style troubleshooting interview with a director. The framing was consistent: it wasn’t a generic coding session, it was an interactive troubleshooting discussion focused on my technical instincts for diagnosing and working through problems. They didn’t give me much detail beforehand about the exact nature of the scenarios, other than that it would probe how I think when systems are failing and what I’d do to narrow down root causes.

That uncertainty was honestly the hardest part to manage. I felt like I had to be ready across a broad range of troubleshooting approaches rather than honing in on one very specific topic area. The overall experience centered on technical troubleshooting skills and how I would reason through issues live.
