My process was pretty structured into four distinct parts, each with a different purpose. First I had a short HR call where we covered the role and I mentioned salary expectations. Next came an interview with hiring managers that lasted about an hour, and it had a mix of technical and soft-skill questions.
What stood out technically was that they leaned into troubleshooting-style thinking rather than trivia. I was asked how I’d approach problems and diagnose what’s going wrong. After that, there was a longer lab interview where I screened through scenarios by sharing my screen. The lab time was scheduled for two hours, but it ended up being closer to an hour and fifteen minutes. I worked in an environment with a couple of Windows servers and one Unix server, and the scenarios involved CyberArk Password Manager—mostly trying to figure out why it wasn’t working.

The interview process I went through felt quick but still thorough, and it moved fast enough that I didn’t have much time to overthink between steps. There were supposed to be four rounds. The first was a short HR screen—about twenty minutes—then I moved to an hour-long interview with a hiring manager and team lead.
That main technical/behavioral round mixed lots of security-flavored troubleshooting scenarios with questions about my background. They talked about topics like DNS, firewall and ports, security clearance, and TLS/SSL. The technical portion wasn’t a list of facts I had to recite; it was mostly theoretical situations where they wanted to see how I’d approach troubleshooting, plus the behavioral side that tied back to my resume.
