After a recruiter reach-out, I moved into a live coding stage and enjoyed the actual technical challenge more than anything else. The coding portion felt straightforward and engaging, but the recruiter experience was where everything soured.
Before I started the process, I asked how many other candidates were being considered, and the question was basically sidestepped. After that, I didn’t receive any meaningful feedback for weeks. When I finally heard back, it was a message saying they’d hired someone about two weeks earlier—so I was still doing the take-home work even though the decision had already been made.
