After a recruiter screening, I moved into a technical interview where the conversation stayed very close to real backend work. We started by covering my availability and basics around work authorization and location, then the technical portion dove into my Python backend experience with FastAPI and REST APIs, along with SQL. The interviewers also asked how I handled production support, debugging, and concrete scenarios tied to prior projects.
What stood out was that the discussion didn’t stop at standard APIs and SQL. I was pulled into how I’d used GenAI/LLM approaches in practice—especially the mechanics behind RAG pipelines, prompt handling, and the security controls around those systems. They also probed how I responded when something went wrong in production, not just how I would design it in theory. Overall, it felt professional and grounded in what I’d actually done, and the whole experience had a “project-first” focus rather than trick questions.
