Difficult Negative Statesville, NC

My interview process started with an online assessment and a mock work exercise. After I passed that initial gate, I moved into a phone screen with a recruiter and then into a panel-style interview. That panel felt rough from the beginning—some interviewers seemed to rely on scripted questions and the interaction ended quickly, with very little genuine contribution.

What made it feel especially uncomfortable was the disconnect between how the conversation was managed and how prepared I thought they’d be. One interviewer showed up late just to underline that this wasn’t a traditional work-from-home setup, and the overall tone came across as lacking self-awareness. It threw me off because I’d been treating the process like a structured evaluation, not something improvised.
