I went through a pretty extensive sequence—starting with hiring manager and engineering manager discussions about my background, then moving into multiple live coding and architecture/system design style exercises. The later technical stages were the ones that really mattered, including an “orange cloud” behavioral interview and PM/cross-collaboration rounds, plus a final C-level executive conversation about why I wanted the job and why I’d be a fit.
Everything went well until I got accused of cheating after I “did too well” on the system design interview. I offered to redo it in person by flying out, basically to remove any doubt, but they still made me re-do the system design interview online again. While my second attempt went well, it wasn’t as strong as the first, and I was cut off anyway.

My process kicked off with a surprisingly fast early stretch: after a hiring manager call and a technical interview, I moved into onsite-style conversations where I had two technical discussions and three behavioral ones. I was impressed by how responsive the recruiter and hiring manager were before the final round, and the whole thing happened within about eight days.
After my last call, though, everything stalled. I sent thank-you emails to both the hiring manager and the recruiter and didn’t hear anything back. I tried following up at the one-week mark and then again around week three, and still got silence. Eventually I received a generic rejection email, and the lack of communication after a long onsite left a sour taste even though the people on the onsite were all friendly.
