I had a pretty laid-back first touch with CGI, and the recruiter interaction felt personable and low-stakes. The interview was mostly a conversation where I talked through my background and experience, with the other person waiting for my answers and giving me room to expand. I remember thinking that pacing mattered—I took my time to explain my thoughts instead of rushing.
The format ended up being straightforward and quick, and it felt like the team wanted to learn how I would work day to day rather than put me on the spot. A short call with the recruiter was followed by an additional conversation that stayed fairly conversational and focused on basic fit questions, like walking through situations from past experience. Even when I had to respond to typical prompts, it never felt hostile or overly rigid.

Average Negative United States
My process started through an online application, and I was asked to connect with a recruiter at my university’s job fair. After they forwarded my resume, I did a phone interview through Handshake, and then I waited for the next stage.
A few weeks later I went into a second set of interviews that included two parts—one more technical and one more personal. What threw everything off was the interviewer being about ten minutes late without any message or explanation, which made the whole session feel less organized right from the start. There was also supposed to be a Q&A on the same day, but that got pushed out for several more weeks.
