My interview process for this role dragged me across a lot of steps—multiple back-to-back conversations, including HR, several very senior engineers, and leadership-level interviews. At different points I spoke with management and higher-ups, and the whole thing felt far removed from the day-to-day job I was expecting to do. By the time I reached the later rounds, I felt like the interview wasn’t landing on the same reality as the actual work.

The early conversations were a mixed bag: some parts were standard discussions of background and behavioral themes, but there was also a lot of interviewer variance. In one of the rounds, I spent a lot of time talking about my resume with little engagement back, and the remaining time drifted into unrelated trivia and low-effort questions.
