I had a very disappointing start. The first round was a conversation with a manager, but the interviewer was quiet in a way that didn’t feel like it was meant to be a dialogue. They didn’t really give me a chance to explain my experience before the call moved on.
From my perspective, it didn’t feel like a serious evaluation of fit or skills—it was more like I wasn’t allowed to contribute. After that, I ended up not moving forward.

I went into Box expecting a normal hiring path, and what I got was a mix of standard steps plus a lot of waiting. First there was a recruiter phone screen where I covered basics, then I moved into a live coding portion. After that came a behavioral interview and a design-focused conversation, and the whole on-site block stretched into a long day for me.
What stood out most was how drawn out it became. Even though the interviews themselves followed a recognizable shape—coding, behavioral, and design/presentation—they took about two months from start to finish. There was also an extra layer of administrative friction later in the process: I was told they wanted to hire me but had to pause because of credential/certification requirements tied to my nationality, which meant postponing the hiring timeline and keeping me in limbo. It was frustrating because I kept hearing that they still wanted me, while the practical outcome was that I couldn’t move forward elsewhere.
