The interviews I experienced were technically focused, but the last coding conversations soured the whole process for me. After things went smoothly earlier, I reached a final coding interview where the interviewer couldn’t explain their questions or feedback clearly. That made it hard to stay focused on the implementation, because I kept feeling like the target was moving while I was trying to build the solution.
What made it sting more was how personal the feedback became afterward—comments that felt unnecessary and hurtful instead of constructive. I walked away frustrated because I believed I was engaging and putting real effort into the work, but the end of the process felt like it was evaluating me on tone and presence rather than the actual problem-solving.

My interview process at Box had a lot of scheduled pieces, and while it looked long on paper, it was mostly well-defined. I started with a Frontend task where I implemented a simple To-Do list in React, then followed it with a JS coding task: building an emitter class in JavaScript and discussing how the internet works. There was also a separate JavaScript architecture interview where I implemented a dropdown component in React.
After the technical rounds, there was a culture interview—thirty minutes—focused on how my experience aligned with Box values, and then a hiring manager interview that lasted about forty-five minutes centered on my experience and soft skills. Even though the steps felt intense, I was able to schedule sessions at times that worked for me, and the interviewers were polite and supportive. What I liked most was that I received detailed feedback after each interview, including what was tested.
