Average Positive Amsterdam

I applied through the portal and the OA showed up the very next day. The assessment gave me 90 minutes, and I had to solve problems that involved REST API and SQL. I hadn’t expected those topics to be part of the coding OA, so I didn’t get to a polished result. I remember leaving feeling like my solutions were only partially correct. The rejection came back the next day, which made the whole thing feel very abrupt.

I had a pretty positive experience with a three-round flow that ultimately led to an offer. After the initial steps, the interviews lined up as system design first, then live coding, and then a fit/behavioral discussion.

In system design, I worked through a problem tied to an existing feature on Booking.com. The live coding round involved solving an internal-style problem and included optimization questions, so I wasn’t just trying to get something working—I had to think about improving it as I went. The behavioral round then focused on my current role, how I handle conflict, and how I work day to day.
