After a recruiter call, I moved quickly into a couple of rounds that felt fairly standard but very dependent on the chemistry. The first conversation with HR was short and straightforward, and I remember it being mostly basic fit questions. After that, I met with the hiring side—first with a hiring manager for a focused session, where the structure felt like an intro to the role, time for me to ask questions, and then a set of questions back from them.

The next part was more technical and more “scientist-to-scientist.” I sat down with a senior scientific lead and it came across as much more topic-specific, and that difference mattered. I asked questions, but I didn’t feel as strong on the answers because I hadn’t had much time to prepare—at that point my schedule was tight. Still, the process itself felt efficient, and I got a quick follow-up after the two interviews.

I got pulled into a process that was more welcoming than intense, and it moved through a familiar sequence. First there was an HR-oriented step with basic, behavioral-style questions, then I met the hiring manager and a lab head. From there, I went into additional panel conversations where the tone stayed fairly friendly.

What I remember most clearly was the lack of heavy technical interrogation in the rounds I had. Even when interviews felt more structured, they leaned on conversation—my experience, the reasons I wanted the role, and how I worked with others—rather than trying to corner me with deep technical questions. In one panel-style discussion, it was almost like a technical conversation with peers: I felt appreciated for how I answered and there was room for questions from my side too.
