I experienced a process that felt unusually drawn out and panel-heavy, and that made it harder to keep my energy up. I went through an HR call, then two separate hour-long zoom calls, and then I ended up in a panel interview that ran long enough to feel like a full day. The final round included a presentation, and the questions became increasingly behavioral as the interview moved from person to person.
What stood out most was the tone and how I was perceived, not just the content of my answers. One interviewer seemed to judge my capability to lead a technical team through a gendered lens, including an example framed around a female leader “struggling” to pull through. That kind of framing threw me off, and it made the interaction feel less objective than I expected.

Difficult Neutral Seattle, WA
My process took a little over a month and ended up feeling like a time commitment more than a single hard test. After a phone screen, I had a call with the hiring manager, and then I stepped into a virtual panel interview. The panel part was where the schedule got long—between presentations and multiple one-on-ones, I spent several hours talking to people who weren’t on the exact same team.
The technical side showed up differently across the rounds. In the technical call, I got asked typical job-related questions like fluids, cryo systems, and testing procedures, and the panel interview mixed presentation time with a blend of technical and behavioral discussions. The one-on-ones that followed were a mix too, including both deeper technical checks and more personality-style questions.
