After applying through Insight Global, I heard back from a recruiter within about a week. That recruiter call felt fairly standard: we went over my background, my visa situation, and what I expected, then I got a quick overview of the role and the team. About a day later I moved into a longer technical interview with two senior developers, and that round was very Java- and backend-focused.
The technical interview had a mix of concepts and practical design: core Java topics like OOP, collections, and multithreading basics; Spring Boot and how microservices fit together; and REST API design with things like appropriate status codes and “best practice” style questions. We also touched SQL and database design basics, then I solved a medium coding problem centered on arrays and strings. What stood out was that the interviewer cared a lot about my thinking process more than just whether I reached the “perfect” final output.
