My application didn’t start with a typical live call. After applying online, I received an invite to a one-way recorded video interview that was essentially behavioral questions only—things like “tell me about yourself,” why I wanted Bank of America, and conflict-style questions. I did the recording and then waited with the expectation that there would be a next stage.
Separately, I went through another path where I applied to multiple roles at the company, and referrals seemed to play a role in who got moved forward. I didn’t get offers there, and the interview experience itself left a sour impression—especially the sense that talking and engaging might have hurt me rather than helped.

Difficult Negative Chester, England
My process soured quickly, and the hardest part wasn’t just the questions—it was the experience around them. I went into later stages expecting a normal continuation, but the interaction felt disrespectful and dismissive from the start. At one point I was questioned on how I even reached the stage I was at, and the energy was so off that I got up and left rather than finish.
In another attempt during the same general timeframe, I had a recorded scheduling step that didn’t resolve properly—my screening time was set, but no one joined, and after follow-ups there was still no response. I later received communication that suggested another candidate had progressed, which made the whole scheduling exercise feel pointless.
