To succeed, you must excel across both automated assessments and conversational deep-dives. Here is how we evaluate your core competencies.
Cognitive and Logic Assessments
Before you ever speak to a recruiter, BairesDev requires you to prove your baseline problem-solving capabilities. These online tests are comprehensive and time-bound. We evaluate your ability to process information quickly, solve mathematical problems, and apply logical reasoning to abstract scenarios.
Be ready to go over:
- Mathematical reasoning – Quick calculations, data interpretation, and quantitative problem-solving.
- Logical sequencing – Identifying patterns, deductive reasoning, and structural logic.
- On-the-spot problem solving – You may also be asked to solve logic puzzles live during your Zoom interview to validate your assessment scores.
Example questions or scenarios:
- "Calculate the projected user growth over three quarters given a compounding monthly retention rate."
- "Solve this logic puzzle regarding resource allocation across three concurrent projects."
Product Leadership and Decision Making
During the 1-on-1 interview, we want to look underneath your resume. We evaluate how you lead teams, how you make decisions when data is scarce, and how you handle conflicting priorities. Strong performance here means demonstrating a clear framework for prioritization and a track record of driving alignment.
Be ready to go over:
- Prioritization frameworks – How you decide what gets built next (e.g., RICE, MoSCoW).
- Stakeholder management – Navigating disagreements between engineering, design, and business stakeholders.
- Outcome-driven leadership – Focusing on metrics and business impact rather than just shipping features.
Example questions or scenarios:
- "Walk me through a time you had to pivot a product roadmap due to unexpected technical constraints."
- "How do you handle a situation where the client insists on a feature that your data suggests will not drive value?"
Technical and Domain Expertise
While you are not expected to write code, BairesDev Product Managers frequently work on complex, technical products. You must be able to hold your own in conversations with senior engineers. A recurring focus for PMs at BairesDev is experience with cloud environments, modern infrastructure, and scalable architectures.
Be ready to go over:
- Cloud environments – Familiarity with AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and how cloud infrastructure impacts product scalability and cost.
- Agile and Scrum methodologies – Deep practical knowledge of running sprints, writing technical user stories, and backlog grooming.
- System architecture basics – Understanding APIs, databases, and microservices at a high level.
Example questions or scenarios:
- "Describe your experience managing products hosted in cloud environments."
- "How do you translate a highly technical infrastructure upgrade into a business-value proposition for a non-technical client?"
