After submitting my application, I got a Hirevue video interview first. The questions were mainly a mix of why the role and why I wanted to work in equity research, plus some brain-teaser style prompts that were less about getting the “right” answer and more about how I was thinking.
A little later, I moved into a phone interview with an analyst. That conversation leaned heavily behavioral, but it also included a few analytical-style questions—things like market sizing or general aptitude prompts that tested my thought process. I remember feeling like the quality of the conversation depended a lot on who I got, and mine felt a bit unimpressed, focusing more on his own story than pulling details from me. It still wasn’t a trick process; it was more about fit, clarity, and keeping my answers grounded.

My process started with a first-round screening that quickly turned into both fit and fundamentals. They asked why I wanted the role and why I was interested in equity research, and I also got hit with a couple analytic prompts to see how I reasoned.
After that, the testing part showed up: I had multiple-choice and writing questions. The math section leaned into econ/probability style thinking and short timed reasoning, and then I had two separate written prompts that forced me to organize my thoughts clearly.
