After a recruiter call, I ended up with a fairly quick sequence of interviews for an Account Executive role. A week or so later I did a technical-style screen and then moved into a couple of 1:1 conversations—one with the hiring manager and another directly with a tech manager. The questions felt pretty standard for the space: I talked through my industry knowledge, walked through my background, and explained how I’d handled customer relationships. There weren’t many “big” curveballs; it mostly felt like structured screening with a limited number of broader questions.
The overall pace was what surprised me most—it felt fast compared with other corporate processes I’d seen. I stayed engaged throughout, and the interview experience itself felt normal enough that I left feeling like I’d done the work they asked for.

Difficult Negative United States
My process for Avnet’s Account Executive role felt heavy and drawn out, and it started to show in the number of steps. I went through multiple rounds—at least three—and early conversations were straightforward enough, but the later stages carried more pressure. One round ended up being a more senior meeting where I basically got to chit-chat and see whether I clicked with the leadership presence, which made it feel less like a purely technical check and more like a personal fit screen.
The most difficult part was the tone and how the questions landed. I remember getting hit with a lot of behavioral and situational questions, with the overall vibe turning grueling and condescending in at least one of the conversations—like I was being judged more harshly than helped. Another time, even when the process should have progressed, it didn’t move meaningfully; I saw indicators that it might be headed somewhere, then I received a rejection later with no satisfying explanation.
