What the process looks like, and what Amplitude is really testing for.
Amplitude’s hiring loop combines recruiter screening, technical phone screens and technical assessments, then cross-functional and behavioral interviews, and in some cases onsite or case study and role-play style exercises. Across roles, the data shows consistent emphasis on engineering and product-adjacent technical skills, plus stakeholder communication and working across functions.
What the interviews test, based on the topic distribution, is a mix of problem solving and core programming skills (Python and SQL) plus clear stakeholder communication. For many roles in the dataset, the technical topic emphasis is very broad, including Engineering Management, Customer Success, UX/UI Design, AI Engineering, SaaS Sales, Marketing Analytics, Technical writing, and Security Engineering.
From the candidate reports, processes can be fast or stretched, but decision closure and follow-up are inconsistent. The dataset also shows an overall offer rate of 0.0%, so you should assume the bar is competitive and plan to focus on feedback quality and communication, not just “doing well” in one technical round.
You should not expect a clean, consistent feedback or timeline experience. Multiple reports describe silence after a step or lack of closure, even when interviews went smoothly, so follow up early and document your status requests.

Cross-functional and behavioral interviews
variesYou interview with team members from various functions to assess collaboration, cultural fit, and user prioritization, along with a dedicated behavioral interview. The topic distribution shows stakeholder communication as highly prominent, so you should prepare concrete examples of how you work with others and communicate tradeoffs.
Onsite and case study or role-play (when applicable)
variesIn some cases you complete an onsite interview with multiple rounds. Some loops include a case study or role-play exercise, and candidate reports mention mock demos and practical scenarios, including a sales capability role-play for roles where that step appears in the dataset.
Hiring manager meeting
