After the recruiter stage, I ended up with a full set of virtual interviews that started with an online technical assessment. That assessment wasn’t too bad, but I also felt like I could’ve been more ready going in. The very first live technical round came about a few weeks later and focused strictly on DSA. I was given two questions: one tied to prefix sums and another that required an advanced binary-search approach.

The rest of the process was a loop-style sequence of four additional rounds. It still felt heavily weighted toward coding and problem solving, but the interview rhythm stayed pretty structured, with multiple interviews after that initial screen. I left each step feeling like the bar was clear—still, not getting to the final offer meant it was hard to say where it slipped, only that the overall preparation didn’t translate into a pass at the end.

I had a phone interview with a very nice engineer, and I walked into it overconfident after prepping too much. I ended up blanking and realizing the questions weren’t as complex as I’d feared—they were simple but still asked with follow-up “drill in” style probes.

The phone screen lasted about an hour and covered three main areas. One block focused on an Amazon Leadership Principle question with more drilling into the details of my examples. Another part was Linux troubleshooting, and the third was scripting. The biggest surprise was how quickly the interviewer pushed for specificity; my preparation didn’t match the tone of the session.
