Average Positive Seattle, WA

I ended up with a single interview round that felt very focused and somewhat surprising in what it emphasized. The conversation went in depth based directly on what I answered, and most of the questions centered on networking basics—especially topics like firewalls and how they relate to traffic—plus DNS basics and Rest API fundamentals.

The interviewer started with an introduction and then dug into those areas rather than pushing broadly into general coding or deep system design. Overall it felt like a technical screen that tested whether I could explain fundamentals clearly and go one level deeper when I gave short answers. It didn’t end in an offer, but the experience was coherent and structured around that specific domain.

I had an HR call first, and then the main interview with the hiring manager. That manager session blended Amazon values style questions using a STAR format with a live coding component.

The round went pretty well in terms of rapport and communication—it felt friendly, and the language situation didn’t block me. When a particular language wasn’t listed, I could write using another language, which reduced friction during the coding part.
