I had a relatively standard interview setup: a technical round followed by an HR conversation. The technical part focused heavily on structural/solid-mechanics style topics, but framed through engineering fundamentals. I walked through questions tied to beams and then moved into areas like Mohr’s circle, stress and strain relationships, how failure theories are used, and general stress analysis concepts connected to those ideas.
After that, the HR round felt more conversational and less technical. We mainly discussed my profile, and the conversation also covered salary negotiations along with benefits. Overall it felt like a clean, two-step process with the difficulty landing in the average range, and I ended up getting an offer.

Difficult Positive St. John's, NL
The process I went through felt tough and split across two different tracks. I had a technical and a behavioral component, and the HR part and the engineering manager part were handled separately rather than in a single continuous conversation.
During the interviews, I was expected to be able to clearly talk through my resume and past experience, not just name topics I’d worked on. The behavioral portion leaned into normal, real-life scenarios—especially how I deal with conflict and how I handle disagreements professionally. The technical component also carried weight, and the overall experience matched the “difficult” label more than anything relaxed or low-stakes.
