What is a QA Engineer?
A QA Engineer at Accenture Federal Services (AFS) ensures that mission-critical systems—spanning data platforms, cyber tools, and enterprise applications—operate with precision, reliability, and security. In this role, quality is engineered into the product from the start: test strategy, automation frameworks, data quality controls, and secure test environments are designed as first-class components, not afterthoughts. You will partner with data engineers, cyber operators, platform teams, and federal stakeholders to validate outcomes that directly support national security, public safety, and civilian services.
This role is particularly impactful because AFS teams often build the “factory” that produces solutions at scale. Rather than writing one-off test scripts, you will develop reusable frameworks, orchestrated CI/CD for data and software, embedded data quality checks (e.g., with Great Expectations), and IaC (Terraform) modules that make deployments predictable and compliant. On specialized programs, you may also test cyber capabilities in VMware-based environments (vSphere/ESXi), working across Python, Bash, C/C++, and networked systems to validate performance and safety under realistic conditions.
Expect variety and meaningful scale. One week you could be hardening data pipeline templates for Databricks or Snowflake used across multiple missions; the next, you might be leading a risk-based test plan review for a sensitive capability or optimizing GitLab CI workflows to enforce quality gates. This is a role for engineers who want to build once, improve for many, and ensure that quality is measurable, repeatable, and continuously improved.
