My hiring journey started with a short HR call where I learned about the process and also talked through possible salary. After that, I had a longer interview with the hiring manager and a developer, and the conversation was mainly technical—heavy on architecture-level thinking and deeper programming topics rather than just surface-level discussion.

Before the actual interview rounds, I also went through assessment-style steps. Depending on the timing, it included structured tests run through platforms that covered things like learning agility, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, innovation or creativity, and English language skills, along with a tech portion that included C++. There was also an earlier stage where I’d complete a Hackerrank assessment and an SHL assessment, followed by an in-person experience day.

Once I got past the earlier stages, my process turned into a paperwork-and-commitment situation that felt stressful in a different way. I started with contact from a recruiter about the role details, including salary range and the expectation that because I lived far from the office the work mode would be home office. Then I went through an interview with a manager, and later I heard back from another recruiter saying I’d been approved.

But the terms shifted after approval: the salary came in lower than what was originally discussed, and the modality changed from home office to hybrid. After internal alignment, I was told the original conditions couldn’t be maintained, and I chose not to continue.
