I was referred by someone I’d worked with before, and I sent in my resume. About four weeks later, a recruiter reached out and I scheduled a phone screen. When she called, she was late by roughly 10 minutes, and I actually had to email her to remind her of our interview.
The call itself didn’t go well. Her energy felt immediately off—like she was disinterested in the conversation—and she only asked a couple of questions before saying she’d pass my information along to the hiring manager. A week later, she followed up to say they were going to pass on my background. The timing wasn’t the only issue; it was the lack of engagement during the screen that made the rejection feel especially abrupt.

Overall it felt fairly challenging because the case study required more than just discussing my experience—I had to perform through scenarios with the personas and produce both a call flow and email output. By the end, I had a clear sense of what they expected from an Account Executive in practice, even though I didn’t end up getting an offer.
