My interview journey was aimed at a solutions-style role, so it didn’t feel like a typical leetcode-heavy software engineering loop. I started with a recruiter conversation, then had a common-sense and behavioral check with someone from the sales or solutions engineering side. After that, I did a hiring-manager / senior solutions engineer stage that blended behavioral and technical questions, and then I ended with a technical presentation where I chose a topic to talk about.

The whole process took close to two months, with a few extra weeks lost around the Christmas break. Everyone I spoke with seemed to genuinely want to see how well I could communicate technical ideas, and the rounds were spaced out enough that I had time to fully prepare for each one. Even though I felt I performed strongly throughout, compensation became the sticking point; they couldn’t move beyond a maximum salary band. They also declined to provide further feedback and cut off contact after I asked. I left feeling like I had the right technical communication fit, but the process still ended without the chance for alignment.
