This interview started with a recruiter conversation that felt very informative and friendly.

Once I hit the 60-minute technical screen, though, it quickly went sideways. The interviewer had an odd setup that made it hard to hear, and the whole thing felt disjointed from the normal flow I expected.

Right away, I was given a hard LeetCode problem—something I’d already mentally assumed wouldn’t appear at the screening stage. Even though the question was long and a bit winding, I recognized the standard algorithm path and ended up writing the “textbook” logic, but it still felt like the difficulty ramp was abrupt and the delivery didn’t match what the process had led me to believe.
