I interviewed for a placement-year engineering role, and the format was simple: two rounds of virtual interviews.

During those calls, they asked about my experience based on my CV, and they also brought in broader topics like sustainability.

Even though it wasn’t a deep dive into very specific technical details in my recollection, it still felt like they were trying to understand the context behind my background. The questions were more about how I’d describe my experience and what I cared about.

It ended positively with an offer. The biggest thing I took from the process was that the virtual structure didn’t feel rushed—just focused on how I explained my experience and interests.
