I was surprised by how the expectations didn’t match the application.

Even though I applied as a software engineer, the process seemed to assume a high level of electronics understanding. That mismatch showed up during the interviews.

I made it through to the very end—one of the last two candidates—so I felt like I was close. Still, it was hard not to interpret the eventual result as an oversight on their side because the expectations at face value didn’t align with the role I’d applied for.

I didn’t receive an offer, and what stuck with me was the feeling that the process was evaluating a different profile than the title suggested.
